Sixty professional caregivers for the elderly were excited by the proven benefits of Whole Mind Success methods in reversing mental aging.
Last Thursday, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Bala Kanayson of Whole Mind Success spoke to a group of medical and professional caregivers.
The program was a great success, with the enthusiastic participants asking Bala to continue past the allotted time.
Many stayed back to discuss the program and its benefits to the elderly.
Most of them requested Whole Mind Success seminars for themselves, and a fair number are working with us to schedule seminars for their companies and clients.
The Brain and Aging
Just like the rest of our body, as each of us ages, our brains change.
Brain cells die, and studies show that brain structures such as the hippocampus become smaller. Although these changes may not always affect memory, their effects vary widely with each individual.
Our working memory is a temporary storage for information and also the analysis of information, decision-making and information selection.
Our working memory’s primary location is in the hippocampus and in the frontal cortex.
Long term memory, however, is stored in various locations in the brain.
Our brain cells are dying daily, but current research shows that the process does not accelerate with age. Furthermore, the areas of the brain that lose cells are not clearly related to memory.
As we age, the way that the brain processes information slows down, reducing the storage rate of new information into our permanent memory.
What can we do to reduce and even stop this mental deterioration? We can begin using the proven methods of keeping our brains alert and helping to build new neuronal circuits – methods taught in every Whole Mind Success seminar.
