Last week we touched on the neuroscience of episodic memory
In psychology, we generally divide memory into six different types.
Implicit Memory unconscious retention of information (prejudices, etc)
Explicit Memory conscious, intentional remembering of facts & events
Declarative memory recalling facts
Procedural Memory recalling how to do something – to carry out a procedure
Semantic Memory recalling general facts
Episodic memory recalling personal facts
Memories are stored in various areas of the brain, with the hippocampus being the location for long-term memory.
