CEOs and Innovation

Posted: Tuesday, March 16, 2010
At : 12:07 AM

Those of us who have worked in large Corporations are rather skeptical of CEOs who claim to support Creativity and Innovation.

We have experienced time and again the lip service paid to *facilitating a creative environment*

Why is this the case?

Is it because most CEOs are under pressure to produce short-term results?
Or are CEOs too far away from the trenches?
Are some of them too old to have learned about Innovation during their MBA days?
Are CEOs simply risk-averse?

What do you think?

Radio - TV - Internet

Posted: Thursday, August 6, 2009
At : 11:53 PM

The "new" media began when Radio broadcasts were more widely available in the 1920s, with president Hoover calling it an Instrument of Learning and Beauty.

Then in the early 40s we saw the growth of Television broadcasts in the USA, and eventually the 1990's made the worldwide web, the Internet, available to the public - and the new Information Age took off.

Radio has recently seen a revival, with increasing numbers of people listening to programs on the internet. In fact recent surveys report that one in three people now listen to the radio via the internet.

The internet, of course, is also a great resource for Education and Training. The number of students doing on-line degrees has risen, and nearly 4 million students have taken at least one on-line course.

Whole Mind Success is also offering some of its methods on-line. We will be helping to develop a Creativity curriculum as part of a new Global Learning website.

We expect that this will provide the opportunity for many more people in our international community to learn practical methods to increase their creativity - and to do so whenever they choose, 24 hours a day throughout the year.

Laughter and your Brain - Creativity?

Posted: Monday, March 30, 2009
At : 1:14 PM

Here is a far from humorous account of the neuroscience of laughter.

As we know, the creativity which results in the "eureka" moment is often accompanied by laughter.

The areas of the brain involved in laughter include the

* Left superior frontal gyrus (a part of the Frontal Lobe of the brain)
* Temporal Lobe
* Hypothalamus

The physiological effects of laughter include:

* Increased heart rate
* Increased rate and/or change in breathing
* Increased blood pressure
* Strengthened immune system
* Reduced levels of various nurochemicals – the catecholines and hormones.

Warning

After abdominal surgery or broken ribs AVOID laughing.
Excessive laughing has sometimes led to heart attacks.

Remember
Balance your left and right brain, access your subconscious mind, enter the Silence, and expand your creativity with Whole Mind Success.

Creativity, Laughter, Innovation

Posted: Thursday, March 12, 2009
At : 9:58 PM

Whole Mind Success has been invited to present a Keynote Address at the annual AATH Conference in Las Vegas next month.

AATH, the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor is
a non-profit professional organization that advances the understanding and application of humor and laughter for their positive benefits.

The Eureka moment is often accompanied by laughter - although the reverse may not be true!

Which part of your Whole Mind is used in humor? Is the left brain or the right brain more active? Is it the conscious mind or the subconscious mind that triggers laughter? How much of it is conditioning and environment?

Whole Mind Success reveals it all, whilst showing you practical methods to balance the brain, delve into Silence and renew your neural circuits.

The result is Pure Creativity.

What is Creativity?

Posted: Monday, September 22, 2008
At : 10:49 AM

"Creativity, it has been said, consists largely of re-arranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know." - George Kneller

Of course we also think of creativity as discovering, or doing something NEW and UNIQUE

As we have said in our Whole Mind Success seminars:

Creativity is a Mental Process which involves
- The Generation of New Ideas or Concepts
- New Associations between Existing Ideas and Concepts

and what recent discoveries in Neuroscience tell us is that:
Creativity can actually be developed by using various techniques - many of which are taught in our Whole Mind Seminars.
